Why choose Chatel...?
Well, if you are looking for a large ski area with runs for all standards (This is the largest linked ski area in the world) and pistes that can take you somewhere different everyday, If you are tired of purpose built concrete jungles and want to stay in a village straight off the back of a post card, If you want a village with quaint bars and restaurants with great apres ski, If you want lifts with no queues, uncrowded pistes, and excellent ski schools and child care, if you want a resort with one of the best snow records in the Alps, and a resort that is only 1hr 30 mins from Geneva airport.....then look no further.
Chatel village is a beautiful Alpine village with exactly the right mix of local shops, charming restaurants, and both lively or relaxing apres ski bars offering live music and of course the odd glass of vin chaud.
There is plenty to do other than ski, with activities such as ice skating, bowling, ice diving, or a trip to the cinema.
The Skiing
Chatel is at the very heart of the largest linked ski area in the world, The Portes du Soleil. Words cannot describe this ski domain! There are over 650km of completely linked pistes across two countries, you can ski all week, without going over the same run twice, and without taking your skis off!
For the more adventurous there are famous black runs such as the Coupe de Monde, or the Swiss Wall, and the off-piste is without doubt some of the best in the Alps.
Chatel has one of the best snow records in the Alps, the graph below shows the average snow depths for the last three years and shows how Chatel compares to some higher altitude resorts including Val Thorens, Europes highest resort! Nearby Avoriaz, which is just 2 lifts away, is Frances snowiest resort, receiving an average of almost 8 metres of snow a season!

(Information taken from www.skiinfo.com)
Just minutes from the chalet, the ski runs of Super Chatel will have you coasting across the Swiss border (don't forget your passport!) Or perhaps you'd prefer the famous 'Portes Du Soleil circuit' taking a tour through the many villages of the Portes du Soleil, 7 hours of skiing without using the same piste twice, !
All this skiing on one Portes Du Soleil pass!

Here are a few things that people have written about Chatel.
BRILLIANT!!!!!
What more can be said, This place is very friendly and very pretty. If you are looking for a village that has it all then you will not be disappointed with Chatel.....ITS A MUST FOR EVERYONE.....
What a wonderful place. Unspoiled but with all the facilities you could want. Superb snow due to location (don't let the height fool you) friendly, traditional village and fantastic restaurants. Best kept ski resort secret - 650 km of linked runs for all abilities.
You can keep Val d'Isere and all the upmarket, expensive resorts - this is what is all about. Loved it so much, we bought a chalet.
